Template update notifications

Templates receive updates from time to time. These updates are carried out to squash bugs, update designs, or change the available content.

To help users with outdated templates continue working with the most up-to-date information, a notification banner will alert them that there has been an update to the template from which the existing (outdated) draft is based.

The system will flag two types of template changes: a minor change or a major change.

Minor changes to a template are announced by a yellow ribbon when a user opens their outdated draft. Minor changes will let users continue working on their drafts, but will notify them before exporting assets out from Dokio.

Major changes to a template are announced by an orange ribbon when a user opens their outdated draft. Major changes will stop users from continuing and direct them to update the draft in order to proceed.

When processing the draft update, Dokio will automatically duplicate the older draft. The newly duplicated draft will have the updates: new underlying code or updated content.

Dokio will copy as much of the work or content that the user has already input to the new draft as possible. The previous (outdated) draft will remain in the Draft folder for you to review.

Users will also be able to read more about the template changes by clicking ‘Learn about the changes’ on the coloured banners. A changelog will be displayed which outlines the change history of the template and provide further context, such as why the changes were necessary.
