Resources - Explore online document
You can create documentation using our online document creator in Resources. Let's explore some of its features below.
When you choose the option 'Create document' from 'Create new resource +' in the Resources section, the Content editor below is what you will see.
You can add your text and start creating your online documentation. Use the toolbar to style your text and add images. Let's have a look at the toolbar options closely.
When you've added some text, you can highlight a word, a sentence or a whole paragraph and use the toolbar options to:
- bold text
- make it italic
- add a line across the text
- add hyperlinks or email addresses
- make texts or a character into superscript or subscript
- underline text
- change alignment to left, centre, right or justified
- make it into number or dot points
- use emphasis ( ! ) to change the text colour
- add an image
- change the font size
- clear the formatting
Note: Using Clear formatting option will remove existing font styles including images that's been added to the editor
How to add an image
- Select the image icon on the toolbar to open the image modal window
- Use 'Upload image' or 'Select from library' buttons to select the image you need from your computer or the Resources section
If you haven't added images into Resources - see here how to create image resources
- Once you've chosen your image, you can use the toolbar on the left to:
- Resize the image
- Crop the image
- Reselect an image from resources
- Re-upload an image from your computer
- Download the current image
- Delete the image
- If no changes are needed, select 'Update' to add the image to the editor
Resizing an image
- Select the Resize button from the menu to open the Resize editor. You can change the width or height values and it will automatically adjust the values of the other field. This maintains the image's correct aspect ratio, preventing distortion horizontally or vertically. You can also choose 'Reset to original' to revert back to the original width and height of the image.
- Click 'Save changes' or 'Cancel 'to close the editor window
Resizing is ideal if you want to make your image smaller than the 900px width of the online document. If your image is bigger than 900px, don't worry, Dokio will resize it to fit the viewing window
Crop image
- Select the Crop button from the menu to open the image editor
- Drag and resize the crop area however you like to crop the image. You can hold down your shift key while setting the crop area to maintain aspect ratio
- Select 'Save changes' if you're happy with how the crop area is set
- The cropped image will now show in the image modal where you can add it to the document editor by clicking the 'Update' button
Edit an image
- Highlight the image in the editor
- Select the image icon on the toolbar to open the image modal window
- Select one of the options: resize, re-crop, replace, or edit the image
- Select 'Save Changes' after editing the image
- Select 'Update' to save your changes
Highlight the image in the editor and use the alignment options if you need to align it to the centre or right
