Image cropper tool

We've all been there, mid-way through a draft and you discover the crop of the image that you have just uploaded isn't quite right.

To give you greater flexibility and control over the images that you upload to into your artwork, Dokio has a cropping tool as part of our image upload fields.

Dokio's image cropper tool is integrated into image fields in the draft editor. Once you upload an image, the cropper tool will be available to select inside the image preview modal.

Dokio's image cropper tool can be configured a number of different ways. Depending on the template and the specific set up for each instance, you may see one or more of these options in play:

  • Free crop - allows you to manually crop to any size/aspect, Simply drag the mouse to whatever shape you want
  • Custom ratio - this option is available whenever free crop mode is selected allowing you to enter any aspect ratio depending on your need
  • Selectable aspect ratio - allows you to select a preset aspect ratio from a list. Note: the first available size will be the default crop.
  • Minimum size - sets a minimum croppable size to ensure whatever is uploaded and cropped is large enough for the particular use. Mostly used on print templates to ensure appropriation print resolution
  • Default aspect ratio - applies a default crop when the image is first uploaded. This is generally the first option available
  • Locked aspect ratio - in some cases the crop will be locked to a specific ratio. This is useful for when a specific aspect ratio is required for an application to ensure the sizing is always correct

You can revisit the cropper at any time to adjust or reset the crop, by clicking on the image upload field and clicking on the crop function in the image preview modal.

The Image cropper will also alert you if your uploaded file does not meet the minimum pixel size required for the image area in the draft.
