Why isn't my file uploading?

This issue could be be caused by a few different things.

1. The file type is not allowed by the field

Occasionally a field may be restricted to only allow certain file types (eg jpeg, png or pdf). If uploading a file type that is not allowed, an alert will appear on the field.

2. The image is too large

Large images will take longer to upload depending on actual file size and your network connection speed. In some circumstances the system may time out and require you to try again.

For images larger 36 megapixels (eg 6,000 x 6,000 pixels or equivalent)

Dokio will upload the image but not generate a preview image to assist with load issues. When uploading into a draft, the image will still display fine in the artwork, but will not display in the image preview modal and cropping will not be available.

If uploading an image to Resources that doesn't generate a preview image, we recommend manually uploading a smaller version into the Thumbnail field, so it can display a preview in the system.

For very large images:

Dokio currently applies a limit on the dimension size of images that can be uploaded to avoid load issues. If you are trying to upload a very large image, you will be presented with a warning message in the upload modal advising of the limit.

The current image dimension size limits are:

  • JPEG images are limited to 100 megapixels (eg 10,000 x 10,000 pixel dimensions or equivalent)
  • PNG images are limited to 30 megapixels (eg 6,000 x 5,000 pixel dimensions or equivalent)
  • GIF images are limited to 4 megapixels (eg 2,000 x 2,000 pixel dimensions or equivalent)

To remedy, we recommend:

  • checking your internet connection speed (occasionally wifi networks can get quite congested and slow), and
  •
checking the overall dimensions of your image isn’t larger than needed
  • using JPG format over PNG format if possible
  • contacting Dokio Support if you have a larger image (than what is allowed) that you require to be uploaded

3. The image is corrupt

Check that the image can be opened in another program. Sometimes during transfer, files can be corrupted resulting in them not being readable.

4. The file name contains special characters

Although Dokio generally doesn’t mind what a file is called, it can occasionally cause issues. We recommend using alphanumeric characters when naming files before upload to be on the safe side.

If you are still experiencing issues, please reach out to us at Dokio support for further assistance.
